Creative Strategy
Ruby Wight is Head of Creative Strategy at NOTHING(R)

At the beginning, she pursued an artistic path she thought would be ‘useful’, graduating from Glasgow School of Art and moving to LA.

She started out in magazines, brand consultancies and design studios, learning about storytelling through images, motifs and manifestos for titles like Wallpaper*, Esquire and Nike

Ruby was intrigued by the world the clients she partnered with were building, and made the decision that fashion was the place she could shape an entire universe, beyond a single brief or project.

She joined Burberry to reposition the brand under Riccardo Tisci and Marco Gobbetti, building a team that took the mission of media — to reach new audiences — as a license to build brand narrative that fought harder in an attention economy, with landmark installations and partnerships with youth culture authorities Dazed, The Face, Highsnobiety and Buffalo Zine

As well as nurturing and growing a multi-faceted creative team, she found and led a graduate talent programme that ran over 6 years, seeking new perspectives and approaches to storytelling, embedding them into permanent roles in the business.

Since then she has worked in New York and Amsterdam for Moncler, Jordan and Tommy Hilfiger, curating community experiences and media transformation that express the foundational building blocks of each brand to earn love and advocacy in new environments.

Today she applies fashion’s appetite for culture and change to challenger tech brand NOTHING(R), working under Chief Brand Officer Charlie Smith’s vision to find a place for software and engineering to fund and frame possibility for the next generation of creatives.

Personally, she is fascinated by the future and how storytelling can uncover new potential in what awaits us. Present Tense is a research project about how we imagine tomorrow, across time in film, fiction and art, exploring the human drama of accelerating technology.
